Manicure Madness

Question #11:

So, I know I've heard horror stories about people and their nails - whether they be manicured professionally, self-painted, or decorated with glued-on fake nails. This hasn't stopped me from painting my own nails.. but what is the leading cause of nail problems due to beautification?

  1. I know the leading symptoms... Constantly having lacquer on your nails deprives your nail beds of oxygen and turns the nail a tint of yellow. Breaks between polishings can help your nails grow clean and healthy.

Plus it's hard to see if that little white blip in your nail is occurring if they are constantly polished. That indicates that you need more calcium- Drink your milk!

Some studies show that the preservatives and chemicals in nail polish can affect baby boys while they are still in the womb, under developing their boy parts. Choosing brands like Essie and all natural polishes can eliminate this risk. A few pedicures won't kill the little guy's goods but it's all in diligence and good common sense.
